About the Organization
The Department of Cottage and Small Industries (DCSI) was established in 1974 (B.S. 2030) under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies (MOICS) with the objective of promoting and fostering cottage and small industries in Nepal. The department works to enhance industrial productivity, create a favorable environment for industrial investment, and contribute to the national economy through effective policy implementation. The origin of DCSI dates back to 1940 (B.S. 1996) with the establishment of the Cottage Skill Awareness Office (Gharelu Ilam Prachar Adda) to support the development of cottage and labor-intensive industries. This office was later restructured and amended into the present Department of Cottage and Small Industries.
