Chandragiri Municipality

About the Organization
Chandragiri Municipality is located in the western part of Kathmandu District under Bagmati Province, Nepal. It is the largest municipality in Kathmandu District in terms of area. The municipality was officially declared on December 1, 2014, following a decision of the Government of Nepal. It was formed by merging eleven former Village Development Committees and was later restructured in line with the Constitution of Nepal. Currently, Chandragiri Municipality consists of 15 wards.

How They Supported Us
Chandragiri Municipality provided valuable support and coordination to Women Empowerment Centre (WEC) in the implementation of a Cancer Awareness Campaign and Screening Test program. The municipality facilitated local-level coordination, community outreach, and program implementation.

Impact of the Support
With the support of Chandragiri Municipality, WEC was able to:

  • Raise awareness about cancer and the importance of early detection

  • Conduct screening tests at the community level

  • Improve access to health information and services, especially for women

  • Strengthen community engagement in preventive health initiatives
