On November 20, 2023, the Women Empowerment Centre successfully conducted the inauguration ceremony of a six-month training program on skill development (Handicraft Bag). The event marked the commencement of a training initiative aimed at empowering women with valuable vocational skills to foster self-reliance and economic independence. This program concluded on May 20, 2024, had a total of 12 enthusiastic participants actively engaged throughout the sessions. The training was effectively coordinated by Niru Tandukar, who ensured smooth implementation and consistent progress. To enrich the learning experience and offer practical exposure, the current batch of trainees was mentored by graduates from the previous batch. This peer-to-peer mentorship model not only created a supportive and collaborative learning environment but also encouraged knowledge sharing and skill transfer among women. Such initiatives are instrumental in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) by promoting women’s empowerment through skill development, leadership, and economic participation. Through this program, the Women Empowerment Centre continues its commitment to creating inclusive opportunities that uplift women and foster community-led development.
