135TH ANUPAM YATRA FOR WOMEN’S POLITICAL PARTICIPATION

The 135th Anupam Yatra, held on Poush 20, 2081 (January 4, 2025), in the historic alleys of Kirtipur, was a resounding call for women’s political participation and leadership. More than 150 change makers, including local leaders, organizations, and youth groups, joined forces to amplify their voices for empowerment, equality, and transformation. This march was not just an event but a movement to ensure greater female representation in the 2084 elections. The rally commenced with the rhythmic beats of Newa Dhime Baja and the soulful notes of flute music, energizing the crowd and setting an enthusiastic tone for the
event. Rukmini Giri inaugurated the program, while Sharu Joshi Shrestha from IGFF underscored the rally’s significance as a true catalyst for change, rather than just a symbolic march.
The participants marched with determination through Kirtipur’s streets, concluding their journey at KNS Banquet, where Geeta Dangol, Founding President of the Women Empowerment Centre (WEC), delivered an impassioned closing speech, reinforcing the urgency of gender equality in politics. The presence of the Deputy Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Traffic Police, and youth groups showcased strong local support for women’s leadership. Local authorities acknowledged these calls and expressed their commitment to fostering policies that uplift women in leadership roles. The
